      @@KseniaAnnis ah I will have to learn warm and cold colors as I wouldn't have a clue. Struck grey with my pastels some Grey's are warm, some cold, haven't a clue what makes some cold and some warm.

    • @KseniaAnnis
      @KseniaAnnis 8 годин тому

      Since yellow and red are warm and blue is cool, look at each color and ask yourself - does it have reddish or yellowish tint? Then it’s warm. Does it have a blue tint? Then it’s cool.

    I was just contemplating if I could mix gouache with oil pastel. I'm glad I found this video! Having two separated whites for warm and cool colors is a smart hack! ❤

    I love this so much. I’m new to gouache and was about ready to give up. An artist friend recommended you, and I am so grateful. Did you use watercolor for the initial background or was that gouache ?

    • @KseniaAnnis
      @KseniaAnnis 18 днів тому

      I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video! The initial blue background is a watercolor wash, used to just “kill the white of the paper”. Then I worked with gouache.

    It's true what you said about painting on paper. When using acrylics you really have to consider the drying time from both the air and from absorption into the substrate your working on. Nice demo, a lovely loose painterly style.

    Lest anyone feels they must lay out large amounts of money for 100 % cotton paper that size, l totally disagree that you can't paint loosely properly unless the paper is as large as you prefer. You *can* do it on small pieces and be thrilled with the results. I do agree a large brush relative to the size you're working on is essential.

    I like it!! Its has a different feel than the original. Its hard to explain. Softer & less complex than the original, yet its a little bolder - which seems contradictory! Lol. I do want to learn how to paint in the style of Van Gogh, & I think gauche is a perfect medium, but have no where to go to learn 🙁
